The Holy scripture says a lot about the value of time. God’s Word is full of references to time. In the Old Testament, time is often represented by days, weeks, months, and years. In the New Testament, Jesus often speaks about time in terms of eternity. Here are some verses that mention time:
“For a thousand years in your sight are like a day that has just gone by, or like a watch in the night” ( Psalm 90:4).
“But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day” ( 2 Peter 3:8).
“So teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom” ( Psalm 90:12).
“Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil” ( Ephesians 5:15-16).
“Now is the time for salvation” ( 2 Corinthians 6:2).
“Redeeming the time, because the days are evil” ( Ephesians 5:16).
“And that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work” ( 2 Timothy 3:15-17).
“But you, dear friends, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life” ( Jude 1:20-21).
“Be patient, then, brothers and sisters, until the Lord’s coming. See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop, patiently waiting for the autumn and spring rains. You too, be patient and stand firm, because the Lord’s coming is near” ( James 5:7-8).
“But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day” ( 2 Peter 3:8).
Time is a precious commodity. We only have so much time on this earth, and we need to make the most of it. That’s why it’s important to remember that time matters to God. In Psalm 90:4, we see that a thousand years are like a day to God. This means that He is not bound by time the way we are. He is not constrained by the hours in a day or the days in a week. Instead, He exists outside of time and can see everything that has happened, is happening, and will happen. This should give us comfort knowing that our time on this earth is not random or without purpose. Instead, every moment matters to God and has been seen by Him. So let’s make the most of our time and live each day to the fullest.
As Christians, we are called to make the most of our time on earth. The Bible is full of verses that remind us to live each day to the fullest and not take our time on this earth for granted. Scripture tells us that “to everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven” (Ecclesiastes 3:1). This means that we should make the most of every opportunity that comes our way. scripture also tells us that “redeeming the time, because the days are evil” (Ephesians 5:16). This verse reminds us that we need to be wise with our time, as there is so much evil in the world. We should use our time wisely to spread the gospel and make an impact for Christ. Finally, scripture tells us that “the night is far gone; the day is at hand. So then let us cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light” (Romans 13:12). This verse reminds us that we need to make the most of our time while we have it, as we never know when our time on earth will come to an end. Let us use our time wisely to glorify God and make an impact for of Jesus Christ.
