This event is celebrated each year on Palm Sunday, as we remember Jesus’ entrance and the events that followed. What a privilege it is to celebrate Palm Sunday and reflect on Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem! These Scripture quotes remind us of all that Jesus accomplished during his time on earth, and give us hope for the future. What a joy it will be to see him return again one day, in all his glory! The Psalms play a significant role in the Christian faith for a variety of reasons. For one, the Psalms are God-breathed (2 Timothy 3:16). This means that they are inspired by the Holy Spirit and thus carry a special authority. The Psalms also tell us a great deal about who God is and what He is like. They help us to better understand His character and nature. Additionally, the Psalms provide encouragement and hope in difficult times. They remind us that we are not alone—God is with us always (Psalm 23:4). Finally, the Pslams teach us how to worship God properly. They show us how to express our love and gratitude to Him in song and poetry.
One of my favorite Psalms is Psalm 118, which is also known as the “Praise Psalm.” This Psalm celebrates God’s amazing victory over His enemies. It recounts how God delivered His people from slavery in Egypt and led them to freedom. The final verses of the Psalm declare:
“This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!” (Psalm 118:24-25)
On Palm Sunday, Jesus entered Jerusalem to the cheers of the crowd. They were waving palm branches and shouting “Hosanna!” They believed that Jesus was the Messiah who would save them from their enemies.
Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey, fulfilling a prophecy from the Old Testament. This was Jesus’ triumphant entry, and it showed that he was the rightful king of Israel.
In the Bible, Psalm 118:25-26 says “O Lord, save us; O Lord, grant us success. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. From the house of the Lord we bless you.” This psalm is often quoted on Palm Sunday.
